Avatar – Fire and Ash. Meeting with the cast

On the occasion of the Avatar exit: fire and ash, the third film of the James Cameron franchise, on December 17, was held this morning with actors Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Bailey Bass, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss and Jack Champion.

James Cameron reports viewers on Pandora three years from Avatar – The Water Road, in a new adventure with the Marine-Na’vi Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and the warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña).

It is Stephen Lang, who plays Colonel Miles Quaritch in the film, to open the conference expressing gratitude to the director. “It is a great fortune from a professional and personal point of view to working with such a creative and visionary personality as James Cameron. A gift that we continue to receive.”.

Sam Worthington, talk about the movie’s message: “When James (Cameron) designed the film, he thought about themes such as the planet, resources, diversity, but then the family theme emerged, which really becomes the core. As it survives in a family under difficult circumstances. It is the mutual love of the family the main theme and this also speaks of the present. We are experiencing difficult times, of great precariousness and uncertainty and the only thing we have is our mutual love. It is all about being connected, American, Italian, the whole planet. It is our responsibility to promote love for humanity in order to correct the distortions and problems that can be there.”.

Bailey Bass, who joined the Avatar universe as Tsireyagorte, Na’vi of the aquatic clan, echoed the sentiment of his colleague, and then described the rouge file of the whole saga. It is, for her, of the chosen family and of diversity, but in the answer you let escape a clue of plot. “This film tells us that we have more in common than differences. It allows us to love cinema by remembering how important solidarity is. All over the world, regardless of the differences, we are all similar, we all have a deep connection that you will see in Avatar: Fire and Ash.”.

Worthington highlighted the emotional evolution of this third chapter with respect to its predecessors: “The first and second Avatar had the same DNA. When I read the script, I tracked the points in common. While in the third, with the expansion of the world, emotions are also deepened.” Bass in agreement with his colleague then exalted the film’s ability to speak “at the same time at the heart and head,” through the introduction of new clans and the more detailed exploration of the characters.

Stephen Lang, he owed the Italian cinema by citing Fellini, Antonioni and Visconti who were inspired to become an actor. “You Italians know all about cinema and that is why I am confident that this film will have an emotional importance for you but also an important place in the history of cinema.”.

The meeting was then won on technical aspects. Bailey Bass praised Cameron and said he was honored to work with a director who constantly “gets beyond the traditional limits of cinema”. Sam Worthington then talked about acting with new technologies, especially with performance capture, advanced film technology that captures real-time body movements and facial expressions of an actor through sensors and cameras, transferred to digital characters. “Our role is to be true in acting and in this technology is not an obstacle. In fact, when working on a traditional set there are many more distractions: carts, camera, lights. You run against time and you always chase the best light while when you work like this is a more intimate personal process. Everything we do remains. We are even more free to explore our message thoroughly by trying to express it to the best”

Jack Champion is of the same opinion: “If I have a camera on the right side of my face I’m aware of it, while with the performance capture technique you focus on the scene without worrying about the lights and cameras. He is alone with the other actors and the director.”.

Finally, on a question about the future, Stephen Lang does not spare a shift to the American government: “What I see dominating among young people is a sense of hope and I am confident that it will be possible to overcome this really dark period that concerns the country but also the whole world. You know something about fascism, here, my country is beginning to learn its meaning.”.
