Wake Up Dead Man: Knives Out marks the third chapter of the saga created by Rian Johnson, and once again sees Daniel Craig as the Benoit Blanc saga. After the first film, the saga was taken entirely by Netflix who made Glass Onion before this third chapter which is described as darker than before. The film was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2025, immediately confirming great expectations and interest.
The soundtrack, the environments, often dark and a more reflective tone distinguish it clearly from the previous chapters, giving the saga a new narrative depth. Like every chapter in this Waker Up Dead Man the cast is the added value with Josh O’Connor and Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.
Wake Up Dead Man: La trama
The story revolves around an ecclesiastical community in crisis. The young priest Jud Duplenticy (played by Josh O’Connor) is sent to support the charismatic but fearsome Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin). Wicks is an impetuous preacher, full of contrasts and secrets: the relationship with Jud and the faithful is immediately tense, almost from “fire and ashes”. Do not spend many hours before Wicks is found dead, under inexplicable circumstances — and Jud, inevitably, becomes the main suspect. From there onwards she opens a tight yellow, which will test Blanc’s ingenuity and loyalty of all involved.
