Tonight on TV the film “True Lies” directed by the director of Titanic: James Cameron, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the protagonist. The story is inspired by the film unpublished in Italy La Totale! of 1991 that spoke of French espionage. The appointment with the film is at 21:25 on Rai 2 Wednesday 17 December. The film was released in the theatres of the world in 1994, grossing approximately $378.8 million worldwide, of which 146 million were cashed in the US market. The subject was filmed for a TV series released on CBS in 2023 but deleted.
True Lies, la trama e il cast
The plot of True Lies tells the story of Harry Tasker who lives a double life: According to his wife Helen and her daughter Dana is a computer representative who often travels for business, but in reality is a secret agent who deals with anti-terrorism for the U.S. government. During his mission, Harry and other agents infiltrate a party in Switzerland, where they learn about the existence of a terrorist cell led by Salim Abu Aziz. Harry suspects that the antique dealer Juno Skinner has ties with Aziz and goes to know them dressing up as an art consultant. Aziz is suspicious, so much so that he tries to kill him, but Harry manages to escape and capture Aziz.
Returning home, he accidentally hears his wife talking to a man named Simon. Thinking that the wife betrays him, she decides to use the agency’s resources to understand who it is. He will find that Simon is a used car salesman pretending to be a secret agent to seduce bored women. He will find out that his wife is sick of her husband’s continual journeys, and that she is looking for an adventure, but never betrayed him.
So Harry will arrange a fake mission where Helen’s role is to seduce a man and plant a bug in his room. The fake mission continues according to the plans, until the men of Aziz burst into their home, kidnap the couple and take them to an island in the Florida Keys. There Helen will understand who her husband is, and finally she will have the adventure she always dreamed of.
