Amadeus is a five-point miniseries that from December 23 enriches the programming and catalog of Sky and NOW. A Sky Originals that fits perfectly into a production park made of quality titles, which go beyond the search for easy consent bringing a consistent entertainment compared to the choice of a paid service. The productive commitment of those who make an original product should therefore be consistent with the decision of those who invest on that platform. Making products of this type entails a high economic commitment from which the choice of making miniseries often comes. And this is a bit the negative reverse of the medal, because the miniseries are sudden flames of taste and interest that remain extemporaneous and often, in the continuous flow between digital and visual scrolls, are forgotten quickly.
Amadeus, una storia che appassiona
Inspired by Peter Shaffer’s theatrical work, the miniseries is created by Joe Barton who inspires that blatant and direct spirit typically English. Amadeus does not induce feelings, emotions in a didactic way but transforms them into vivacity and dynamism, playing on jokes, on looks, on cynicism. Amadeus is the story of a brilliant outsider that challenges conventions thanks to the strength of his music but is contrasted by the powerful of the time. This is also a universal story, which could be adapted to any context and situation, but which takes even more strength in the past.
While wanting to tell the jealousy of Antonio Salieri towards Mozart, the subterfuges put in place to ruin his life and career, allowing the theory that he may have been somehow responsible for his death, Joe Barton’s miniseries ends up being a praise of free genius, creativity, passion as a motor of life and existence. The creative uniqueness that cannot be suffocated by conventions, which goes beyond commands, limits, networks that are imposed.
At a time when religion was crucial, Mozart is seen as the elect by Salieri who envys what he thinks of his ability to receive from God the gift of art without having a pure, pure life, ligy to religious dictates. The genius of the young composer, who died at age 35, becomes for Salieri the way to unlock his creativity, coming out of the numbness that life and social position had given him.
Gli attori
Paul Bettany succeeds in being an ambiguous, rigid, but at the same time passionate, able to melt in front of the music of his rival. Gabrielle Creevey is also excellent as Constance, Mozart’s wife, but also the always impeccable Rory Kinnear as the emperor. The weakest is Will Sharpe’s Mozart, not helped by a little incisive facial friend and by a glance turned out beyond the need, unable to turn on even in moments of inspiration, compensating these limits with the body movement.
A chi è consigliata Amadeus?
Surely it is suitable for those who love the historical series, set in the past, linked to reality, to those who are passionate about art and culture.
Chi dovrebbe evitarla?
On the contrary, it should be avoided who seeks products from rapid consumption (despite being a miniseries), immediate, easy to use and to understand, which do not require a high threshold of attention.
