Quando Winthorpe viene arrestato, il numero che riceve per la foto segnaletica (7474505B) è lo stesso che aveva Jake Blues, il personaggio interpretato da John Belushi in “The Blues Brothers”.
Nell’episodio “Lunga sfiga alla regina” della serie animata “I Simpson”, Bart e Lisa, in preda al delirio da zuccheri, incontrano due nobiluomini che scommettono, così come Randolph e Mortimer, un dollaro sulla sorte dei ragazzi.
Nel 2010, in occasione dell’entrata in vigore negli Stati Uniti d’America di nuove normative inerenti ai mercati finanziari, il presidente della Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Gary Gensler, ha colloquialmente ribattezzato Eddie Murphy Rule l’insieme delle direttive a contrasto dell’insider trading, traendo ispirazione da quanto avviene nell’epilogo di Una poltrona per due.
