Tonight on TV Thursday, December 25 at Christmas on Rai 2 the film The Return of Mary Poppins, musical-live action directed by Rob Marshall and screened by David Magee starting with a subject signed by Magee, Marshall and John DeLuca, based on the novels of “Mary Poppins” written by P.L. Travers.

Emily Blunt returns to play the magical nanny in the 130-minute film, aesthetically refined and with the ability to touch the right keys to arouse the desired nostalgia effect (here’s our review). The worldwide cashout in 2018 was $158 million.

The plot of The Return of Mary Poppins takes us to London during the Great Depression of the 1930s, twenty-four years after the events of the original film. Michael Banks works in the same bank where his father worked and still lives at number 17 of Viale dei Ciliegi with his three sons Annabel, Georgie and John and maid Ellen.

Jane Banks continues her mother’s commitment to civil rights and fights for workers’ rights and at the same time helps Michael’s family. When the family suffers a personal loss, Mary Poppins magically returns to the life of the Banks and, with the help of Jack, decides to help them regain the joy of living and the sense of wonder.
