It is in home video Warfare – Wartime by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Civil War) and Ray Mendoza, based on the real memories of a Navy SEAL unit engaged in a highly risky mission in Iraq in 2006, thanks to Eagle Pictures.
Based on a true story, the film is an immersion in the shocking reality of modern conflicts, made on the basis of memories, testimonies and experiences lived on the field by a group of men from the special bodies of the American Navy, the Navy SEAL – including the same Ray Mendoza – who participated in a high-risk mission in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2006.
The soldiers settle in a house of civilians to monitor the activities of the insurgents, but the situation quickly degenerates, transforming the mission into a tactical and human nightmare. A raw and immersive look on the modern war, between tension, sacrifice and disillusionment.
Not only a war film, but in the war: immersive, visceral, engaging, an intense and innovative revisitation of the genre, which does not make discounts to the viewer giving him a total cinema experience.
Warfare: l’edizione home video
The Garland & Mendoza film is edited in DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K (BD 4K + BD HD). For the 4K version, inside the simple plastic amaray we find plenty of extra content inside the blue-ray discs.
Among these interviews with directors and cast: the best way to get into the set along with them. A behind the scenes of the film that in turn is a behind the scenes of the war, which is always meaningless and never makes discounts to anyone. So much so that we are not told any background of the characters but only the brutality of the war in real time.
At the level of immersive vision experience and audio/video quality, the 4K Ultra HD format, in particular, does a great job and allows you to enjoy a real cinema experience comfortably on the sofa.
