After the incessant demands on social media, HBO Max announced that the TV series became cult on social media, Halted Rivalry will arrive on February 13 on the streaming platform. The platform does not renounce its “weekly” vocation and the six episodes of the first season will be released weekly despite coming out between December and January in Canada and the USA (and in other countries of the world).
The series is produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment in association with Crave of Bell Media, Heated Rivalry is internationally distributed by Sphere Abacus. The inspiration for this gay sport romance created by Jacob Tierney (Letterkenny, Shoresy), comes from Rachel Reid’s novels with the center the secret relationship between two hockey players. Reid’s saga actually starts with Game Changer with Hated Rivalry which is the second novel to which 4 more books are followed.
Hated Rivalry, la trama
The series tells the story of rival hockey players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). Shane and Ilya are two of the biggest stars of the Major League Hockey, united by ambition, rivalry and a magnetic attraction that neither can fully understand. What begins as a secret relationship between two young rookies turns into a long journey of love, denial and self-discovery.
Over eight years, the two pursue success on ice while trying to manage their feelings away from the spotlight. Divided between the sport that defines their lives and a love that cannot ignore, Shane and Ilya will have to understand if in their fiercely competitive world there is room for something as fragile as powerful as true love.
