The Night Manager 2, a revised formula for a loved character

TV series routes are endless among projects that die too early, others that last too long and others still reunite suddenly, as a success with The Night Manager. Suddenly BBC and Prime Video have announced two new seasons of the TV spy series from the novels of John Le Carrè with Tom Hiddleston as the protagonist. The Night Manager brought the character of the enigmatic Jonathan Pine, a chameleontic spy with a new adventure.

The Night Manager 2, le mille facce di una spia

This second season of The Night Manager differs from the novels of John Le Carrè with David Farr, author of the series, who has developed an autonomous plot. At the bottom, as Hiddleston himself said, the world has profoundly changed in recent years, the enemies are different, the way to spy is different and also seriality. This second season of The Night Manager is more physical and less psychological, darker than the previous, less directed only to an English public and more open to the world internationally.

The new season, shot in the UK, Spain, Colombia and France, follows Pine, who now lives under the name of Alex Goodwin, on a new dangerous journey in an attempt to expose a conspiracy to destabilize a nation. Of course, the ties with the past and the character played by Olivia Colman will return to the series. Pine, Goodwin, or… who is the protagonist? A man with no identity who can shape himself entirely with the one in which he is working, even when he is pushed beyond his own limits.

Il cast

In the cast as well as Tom Hiddleston there will be novelties Diego Calva (Babylon, Narcos: Mexico), Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six), Indira Varma (Obsession, Obi-Wan Kenobi), Paul Chahidi (Wicked Little Letters, The Serpent Queen) and Hayley Squires (Adult Material, Beau Is Afraid). They return to the roles of the first season Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, Michael Nardone and Noah Jupe. There will also be Olivia Colman as Angela Burr, so she won a BAFTA.
