Tonight on TV, Tuesday 13 January on Rai 3 comes the film Three thousand Years of Attesa, directed by George Miller, adaptation of a story of the collection The genius in the night eye written by Antonia Susan Byatt. The film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022, released the same year at cinema in the USA, in Italy was distributed by Prime Video in June 2023. The film Three thousand years of waiting is a fairy tale for children of all ages. Alithea Binnie is a scholar of British literature who occasionally suffers from hallucinations often populated with demonic beings. On holiday in Istanbul he buys a bowl inhabited by the genius of the three desires, and this time it is not a vision, but it is all true. But desires must really be of his heart in this way the genius will be free. The woman knows that often the desires exhausted by a genius bring catastrophic consequences, and is distrustful. To convince her, he’ll tell her three stories about her past.
The first story is related to when he was trapped in the bowl because of the queen of Saba her cousin and lover. In the second is the story of a concubine of the Sultan Solimano who found the bowl asking to make the Sultan’s son fall in love, but the woman was killed before she could fulfill all the wishes. The genius began to wander until after more than a century it is again trapped in the bowl by Sultan Ibrahim’s favorite. The third story is the encounter with a slave with whom the genius has a son.
