“Finding in front of three seasons and a fourth just begun can be intimidating, we know, but we give you a suggestion: Started with the fourth game” Mickey Down and Konrad Kay gave us a few tips to approach Industry one of the TV series we can discover through HBO Max.
The TV series debuted on HBO and BBC Two in full pandemic in 2020 but for a plot of rights had so far remained unpublished and only with the arrival of HBO Max in Italy we could discover the first 3 seasons together with the fourth released weekly in conjunction with the USA.
Industry dalla 4 e poi torni indietro
And from the latter the two showrunners recommend to leave for those who do not know the series. The fourth season is in fact a sort of “soft reboot” as defined in the press meeting organized by HBO Max in Rome. “In the first two episodes we probably had a somewhat repulsive attitude towards the public while with the passing of the seasons we learned to tell a more universal story. You could start from the fourth, understand what feeling you give and then go back, seeing the first seasons a little like a reboot“. But the start of the fourth season has been defined by many “brutal, abrasive”, the season however is narratively “closed you can understand the dynamics between the characters even if you do not know them before, it is not obligatory to make an important investment to enter the series, you can start in a soft way“.
“The first season had actually the lowest goals compared to the standard of a drama HBO was all about these young people in the world of finance and how they would behave” but the screenwriters and showrunner invite us to watch the series also for the recitation of its actors. As Myha’la Herrold present since the first season as the ambitious Harper: “Many people love to hate her, they don’t represent the ideal of a woman they want to see, but at the same time they hate the fact of loving her. But she is a woman with a dream and unlike others without any privilege, an outsider who does it, she has them all to have to fail is woman, she is not white, she is not rich.” Precisely because of these characteristics, the reaction is different from what a man would see making his own choices.
Ambiziosi si ma collaborativi
“Industry is not a guide to the world of work!” showrunners warned us, “it is important to be more collaborative in life. We have also learned to do so and for this reason the series has improved“. Industry tells the contemporary: “Society is increasingly despised, hypocrite, greedy, individualistic. In the first seasons we told all this, in the last we are trying to explore also what is the cost of all this and how the power corrupts“. Also to stay anchored to reality “we have a writers’ room full of people who are all worried about the direction in which the world is going. We often build the plot starting from current events and draw inspiration from what happens in the real world. Let’s talk to advisors, let’s rely on them. We do our research, we read a lot and, of course, we are attracted to themes that already concern us“.
La musica in Industry
Music is a fundamental part of Industry and the two showrunners told us how they put it directly in the script: “From Nathan McKay’s original soundtrack to the songs chosen with the music supervisor. The series is an eclectic mix of genres: melodrama, opera, financial drama, relational drama. And this variety is reflected in music.”.
