Sunday, January 18, 2026 on Tv8 will air the film “Grandpa this time is war“. The film is directed by Tim Hill with Robert De Niro and Uma Thurman as the protagonists. The film (The War with Grandpa in English) was released in 2020 and cashed $40.7 million worldwide, of which $21.2 million in the US market. Because of the pandemic, the film has never been released to cinema in Italy.

The plot of grandfather this time is war tells the story of grandfather Ed (R. De Niro) and his 12-year-old nephew, Peter (O. Fegley). The two have a very close relationship or rather had. But when his grandfather is forced to move to the house where Peter lives with his mother Sally (U. Thurman), his father Arthur (R. Riggle) and the two sisters Mia and Jenny, things get complicated. As if his terrible intrusion was not enough, his grandfather appropriated Peter’s room, forcing the boy to live in the loft.
To counteract and recover what belongs to him, Peter draws up a plan that plans to combine a distrust behind the other to force Grandpa Ed to pack and return to his real home. But the grandfather is not prone to accept the intimidating actions that the grandson has thought against him. He responds with guerrilla spirit to every evildoer of Peter: that engaged between the two is a battle without exclusion of blows, between jokes, suspicious, marachelle and punishment. A neighborhoodless struggle for the conquest of the needy little room.
