Did Academy members want to signal Netflix and the film industry with these Oscar nominations? In fact, Warner Bros Discovery dominates in the middle of the negotiation with Netflix, with Sinners – Sinors and One Battle after the other (on HBO Max) respectively with 16 (new record exceeding 14 of Eva against Eva, Titanic and La Land) and 13 nominations. But somehow they have also rewarded Netflix’s choice to release movies with 9 nominations to Frankenstein, 4 to Train Dreams and 2 to KPop Demon Hunters. The ceremony will be on March 15th.

The biggest surprise is the record of 16 nominations for Sinners – Sinors, difficult to predict. It is not surprising but the nomination of Wagner Moura first Brazilian to win the Golden Globe and first named as the best actor for The Secret Agent. Surprising the nomination as the best F1 film, while negatively surprised Ariana Grande nominations, Guillermo Del Toro, Dwayne Johnson and Paul Mescal.
