Following a proposal from the marketing executive Danny Moore, Nissan’s motorsport division establishes the GT Academy to recruit experienced Gran Turismo racing simulator players and turn them into real drivers. This film has very important writing problems. Tally so much that, although it is drawn from a true story, it seems inverosimile and has big holes of plot. Dialogues are fake and tidy, the recitation at times exasperated. It seems to be in front of a very long publicity for Gran Turismo, Nissan and those who have more of it. The product placement is unbridled and distractive. What was added to the real fact, which happened in 2011, is dramatic and useless, the emotional hub of the film (and the formation of a nice relationship between Jack and Jann) is based on a tragic accident and an invention.
In this disaster, two things are saved. The racing scenes are surprisingly exciting, and the character of Orlando Bloom, while acting at 20% of the possibilities, is almost realistic. Wow.
