The Nice Guys Review: Those good guys from Crowe and Gosling

The Nice Guys is a dick movie to watch tonight on TV 3 February 2026 on 27. Los Angeles, 1977. From the first scene – an absurd car accident involving a famous pornstar and the house where a boy was living on a catalog – Shane Black presents the tone of the film. It keeps it until the end: when you think that the epilogue could ruin the spirit of the feature film, something unpredictable happens that puts the cards on the table and does so in a absolutely exhilarating and tragic way (in the most unequaled sense of the term).

The Nice Guys trama e commento

Let’s not fear you. The Nice Guys is a fucking movie. Black confirms the imprinting of his cinema and classic cop movies with the two police officers/detectives that collide, then finding points of encounter thanks to an eclatating case. Here the couple is revisited in a smart way not only by the screenplay and director, but also by the two machi protagonists Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling: the lived and the newborn, always impeccable and constantly wrong. A barrel and continuous response that leaves no time for the viewer to take a break – whether from laughter or climaxes that continue on the screen, never bored. Perhaps it is the most mature film of Black, the most balanced in its various elements, of genre and not.

Cop movie to whom?!? The Nice Guys is a fucking movie. Crowe is the dark-haired detective Jackson Healy, Gosling is the extravagant private detective Holland March. There are no good and bad in this movie, or better there are, but everyone does the opposite of what you would expect and never coolly. The cast is completed between the others on the leftover Margaret Qualley, the swindler Matt Bomer, the evergreen Kim Basinger and the debutante (but very good) Angourie Rice.

At disk pace everything is possible. The Nice Guys is a frisky movie. There is no shortage of berries in this feature film, noisy as never before, where everyone squanders, beats, enjoys and shocks at the same time, and the audience with them. If you add the record music that does the background to the (dis)adventures of our (anti)heroes and part September of Earth Wind & Fire you can not get involved by those [Bleep] good guys protagonists.

The Nice Guys is a sort of Deadpool 70s version with super dick instead of super powers. A film in which every mistake, every mistake of the two freaking protagonists takes place incredibly in the right place and at the right time and as in a mosaic goes to frame itself in an as absurd as a set of (s) injured events that leads to the unpredictable final epilogue. Nicely done, dudes, nicely done.
