We were soldiers – Fino all’ultimo uomo, la trama
The film is set in 1965 and tells the events experienced by the American army during the battle in the Valle di Ia Drang. After the U.S. declared war on Vietnam, colonel Hal Moore is charged with guiding and training a battalion in the territory. Arrived in Vietnam the colonel discovers that an American base was attacked and is ordered to take his men, more than 400, and eliminate the opposing troops.
The American intelligence, however, has no information about the opponents, but this does not stop Moore who will lead his own in the so-called “Valle della Morte”. After landing the soldiers manage to catch the deserter and find that they are located near the base camp of the opposing army composed of at least 4000 men.
Soon after the American army will suffer an ambush that will cause the death of many men. The survivors are now surrounded by the enemy and in numerical inferiority, the U.S. Army seems to be dismissed and Moore did not expect such a numerical force..
