Heated Rivalry is the cult TV series, which has become a phenomenon on social media and which everyone has already seen (I don’t tell you how) although it hasn’t yet arrived in Italy. The story of love and passion between two hockey players will land in our country in time for Valentine’s Day from 13 February on HBO Max (which although the series has only 6 bets and is already strange popular, will remain faithful to its idea of weekly release) but with a small draw that has divided fans.
In fact Heated Rivalry will initially be proposed in original version with subtitles without dubbing. The announcement was made by HBO Max’s social accounts who said they heard the fans’ protests of the series disappointed by the first trailer with Italian dubbing in which the character of Ilya Rozanov had lost the Russian accent.
The TV series is Canadian, produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment in association with Crave di Bell Media, distributed by Sphere Abacus. Casey Bloys (boss of HBO) told that he had discovered it almost by chance after HBO Max’s acquisition manager for Australia had told him about it. At that point he took it for the USA and then for many other countries of the world Italy included. Bloys has ensured that HBO does not intend to enter as a producer but wants to remain as a distributor of the future seasons of the series.
The phenomenon was born a little by chance and is spread over social media, even in the USA there were cases of people who saw the new episode in pubs. In addition to the theme, this propagation was also the weekly release that helped to mount success thanks to the expectation of the new episode. Imagine it in binge watching the effect would have been different and would have been exhausted in a few weeks.
Heated Rivalry, di che parla?
It seems the most popular TV series of the moment, everyone speaks of it, all have already seen it, the two protagonists have made the lights acclaimed by the Italian public. But Heated Rivalry, what are you talking about? The series was born from the books of Rachel Reid, who published this saga MM Romance (with gay protagonists) since 2018 with the title Game Changer. Overall, 6 books were made and 2 Heated Rivalry and The Long Game are specifically dedicated to the relationship between Ilya and Shane.
The novels and the series tell the story of love between two men in the world of hockey. Considering the popularity of hockey in Canada. Shane and Ilya are two of the biggest stars of the Major League Hockey, united by ambition, rivalry and a magnetic attraction that neither can fully understand. What begins as a secret relationship between two young rookies turns into a long journey of love, denial and self-discovery.
Over eight years, the two pursue success on ice while trying to manage their feelings away from the spotlight. Divided between the sport that defines their lives and a love that cannot ignore, Shane and Ilya will have to understand if in their fiercely competitive world there is room for something as fragile as powerful as true love.
Il cast
The two protagonists are played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie. Above all, the latter has repeatedly said that his life has changed rapidly, considering that nine months ago he served at the tables making the waiter to stay and within a few weeks he ended up presenting the Golden Globe and to do the tedophorus. In the cast also François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., Christina Chang, Dylan Walsh, Sophie Nélisse and Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova. The creator of everything is Jacob Tierney (Letterkenny, Shoresy).
