He arrives in the hall on March 6, distributed by Filmclub Distribution and Minerva Pictures, Good Boy, the new film of the candidate director at Oscar Jan Komasa. The protagonists of the film are Stephen Graham (Emmy Award and Golden Globe Winner for the “Adolescence” series), Andrea Riseborough (Candidata all’Oscar® per “To Leslie”) and Anson Boon, winner of the Vittorio Gassman Award at the Best Actor at the Rome Film Festival. Good Boy is an intense and disturbing thriller, a dark fairy tale that raises uncomfortable questions about freedom, the dangers of care and the choices that define us.
Good Boy, la trama
Tommy, 17-year-old punk, lives a life of drugs, parties and violence. After a night of unbridled balcony with his friends, he separates from the group and is kidnapped by a mysterious figure. Although he is not alien to violence, he remains horrified when he wakes up with a chain at his neck in the basement of the isolated house of the rich family of Chris (Graham), his wife Kathryn (Riseborough) and their young son Jonathan. The kidnapping is part of the design of this strange family that wants to turn Tommy into a “good boy”. Subsequent to forced rehabilitation while trapped in a dysfunctional family, Tommy has to choose between to please his implacable aguzzini or try to escape at all costs.

“Good Boy was born of an idea that I couldn’t get out of my head: in a world hungry for attention, is freedom still desirable if no one sees you? Would we choose autonomy in solitude or would we rather give up freedom for the comfort of constant care?” says director Jon Komasa. “Working with Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough and Anson Boon, I wanted to explore the subtle line of demarcation between love and tyranny, silence and violence, all intrigued with a sense of British and Polish black humor without compromise, which aleges provocatively in the gray area of morality.”.
