Tuesday, February 24, 2026 on Rai 3 will air the film A Hero directed by Asghar Farhadi, winner of the Oscar for a separation and the client. A hero won the jury’s Grand Prix in Cannes in 2021.
The film is written and directed by Asghar Farhadi and tells the complicated story of a man in jail for an unpaid debt. The filming was conditioned by Covid and ended at the end of 2020. In Italy he was released in January 2022, excellent reviews with an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. An Iranian court ruled that Farhadi took the idea of a former student who denounced him for plagiarism. As the director admitted, he was inspired by the documentary All Winners All Losers, but without mentioning it officially in credits.

A plot hero – Rahim ends up in prison, convicted of a debt that cannot honor the former brother-in-law. On a day of leave the man together with the new companion, brings coins to a gold buy hoping to repay the debt. But the exchange jumps because the shopkeeper offers less. Rahim’s sister discovers the bag with the coins and the man confesses to having found it but now decided to find the owner.
After returning to prison, the owner contacted Rahim and his heroic history is spread by the prison director who needs good news. Life for Rahim is about to change but the bad surprises are not over.
