A Beautiful Day is a comedy for the whole family with the couple formed by Fabio De Luigi and Virginia Raffaele, makes smile in a simple way with jokes and perfect situations for a first evening of Rai 1 or Canale 5, but also for an afternoon streaming with all the TV gathered. In the meantime you can spend the afternoon at the cinema from March 5.

Produced by Lotus Production, a company Leone Film Group with Rai Cinema, distributed in theatres by 01 Distribution is a film written by Furio Andreotti, Giulia Calenda and Fabio De Luigi (also director). In the center of history there is Thomas, a widow with four daughters of different age and problems and a dog. Thinking only at work (has a firm of fixtures) and daughters neglected his private life until the same girls, tired of seeing him so focused on them, try to get him out of the house to meet someone. And this someone is Lara, a pity that she also hides something (which is easily intuited by the trailer and the poster but which is strangely kept hidden in the synopsis).
Una storia che non funziona
Looking at the movie you have the feeling of wasting an opportunity to make a good family drama TV series as you rarely manage to do in Italy, in which it seems that there should always be a mystery, a job or a genre to make a TV series. A Beautiful Day is a great subject for a TV series that compressed in 90 minutes is reduced to a set of deflected gags suitable for Fabio De Luigi and Virginia Raffaele.
The “mystery” mentioned above concerning Lara, which I care to emphasize is snipered in the trailer and poster, is used to change direction to the film, when in reality it could be carried forward in parallel to the story of Thomas, without making De Luigi the main protagonist. Excessive research of the gag pushes the film towards a ground of unreality, closer to the cartoon than to a comedy with actors in flesh and bone. There are situations that seem to be somewhat chaotic, only for the taste of inserting them without having under control the overall plot of the film.
The feeling, which will surely be wrong, is a script that has been mounted and dismantled several times, with added pieces, other removeds and the search for scenes to make laugh of the physical comedy of the pair De Luigi-Raffaele. We miss the jump from the television scene to the construction of the real story. A wasted opportunity.
