The plot of 13 Hours takes us to Libya in 2012. On a non-official CIA base in Benghazi, a group of former military contractors is responsible for local security. In the aftermath of the fall of Gaddafi there is a vacuum of power and the climate is unstable. Military weapons are easily available and the chances of clashes and guerrillas are very high. The US ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, visits the area, housing a complex near the CIA base. On the night of September 11, 2012, the ambassador’s complex is attacked by an armed militia composed of locals. The only forces that can defend it are the six members of the CIA security team.
