Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part 1 might well qualify as a volunteer kidnapping. Tom Cruise and his troupe keeps you stuck for more than two and a half hours and not happy even manages to finish the film, leaving you waiting for a second part. As if there is any doubt that will solve the issue, saving the world to carry out the next impossible mission. Despite this the film works.
Pure entertainment for action fetishists. A film that speaks to those who live the cinema as an immersive experience in which to detached from reality without thinking too much about the turns out and inside the room. A movie to watch at the cinema and preferably in a hyper-modern multi-sala because the armchairs tremble at each shot and while the train runs at full speed (with a stunt just seen also in Indiana Jones to say how ideas are always those) A summer heat shelter thanks to air conditioning.
The plot is rich in characters, twists, and references to the past of the character of Ethan Hunt. There is nothing particularly innovative and overwhelming but each piece is in the right place and everything altogether works. The wheelchair that sees to rub Tom Cruise on the streets of Rome, breaking parapets of the steps of Trinità dei Monti, destroying cars between the alleys of the capital on board an old 500 yellow (seriously?) is a fun throws thoughts for the cinema and TV. With the fate of the world and the control of the future hanging on a thread, the team will begin a hectic mission all over the world, to prevent the weapon from falling into the wrong hands. Put in front of a mysterious and omnipotent enemy, tormented by dark forces of the past, Ethan will be forced to decide whether to sacrifice everything for this mission, including the lives of those who care more.
Of course, in 2023 he could only have the danger behind artificial intelligence, the real enemy of the modern world.
