As it was easily intuitive and widely expected, the fifth season of Bridgerton will be dedicated to the history of Francesca and Michaela. In May 2025 Netflix had renewed the series for a fifth and sixth season, continuing to exploit the Roman subdivision to tell the stories of the heirs Bridgerton, despite the collective component and the interweaving of the different stories represents the most interesting part of the series as demonstrated in the fourth season.
The fact that the story of Francesca was the next to be faced seemed evident from the direction taken in the fourth season with the death of her husband John and the first allusions of a certain sympathy of Francesca with the cousin of her husband Michaela. Obviously this is a narrative license of the series compared to the novels where Francesca fell in love with Michael. As a success with Colin and Benedict, there has also been a reversal of novels since the fifth novel is dedicated to Eloise while the sixth is on Francesca.
