Something about Lilla addresses the theme of diseases related to food disorders, subdoles and in continuous increase especially among the very young, and in particular – adds the director – “the nervous bulimia with a look that goes beyond the symptom, interpreting the disfunctional food behavior as the expression of a need for listening and recognition”.

Qualcosa di Lilla, la trama

The story of the fifteen-year-old Nicole, interpreted by Federica Pala, is common to many teenagers, on the one hand there is pain for separate parents, on the other that research becomes obsession with the right weight. All accompanied by a great passion for mathematics.

The girl lives on the outskirts with her mother Veronica personal trainer with whom she has a conflicting relationship. The woman would love it more mature, while Nicole is still firmly anchored in childhood and happy memories, also thanks to the special relationship with the pa cop, Cristiano, (Alessandro Tersigni) who sees every weekend. His life changes when in class comes Luce, a new companion, charismatic and overwhelming that brings with him all the discomfort of today’s teens. Light (played by Margherita Buoncristiani) drags Nicole into a world of excesses, where everything is pushed to the maximum, where every emotion must be absolute. Light has been suffering from bulimia since she was small, it seems that the disease is part of her, that it is one of her many characteristics, something that must not be afraid. So Nicole also slips into the disease as she slips into adulthood, without noticing it.

But most importantly, without the others, because his body does not change with her. Only after the death of Light by cardiac arrest will parents realize the abyss in which the daughter fell. A much blacker and deeper abyss than they have never imagined. Next to Nicole there is always Marco (Miguel Bonini) the boy she falls in love with, reciprocated. It is of Filipino origins and is the only among the boys of history with a united and functional family. She studies, works in the parents’ restaurant and gives climbing lessons in the gym where she trains.
