On Sunday, April 12, 2026 Iris will air the cult film “Il miglio verde“, a film directed by Frank Darabont, taken from Stephen King’s eponymous novel, released in 1996. The appointment with the film is at 21:25 on Rete 4. The film (The Green Mile in English) was released in 1999, cashed a little over $286,8 million worldwide.
Il Miglio Verde, la trama
The film tells the story of Paul Edgecombe, whose life will change when he meets the detainee John Coffet. We are in 1935 and Paul works for The Green Mile, the name that is used to refer to the section of the condemned by death of the Cold Mountain penitentiary. John was accused of killing two twin girls, and then sentenced to the death penalty and imprisoned in the Mile.
John is a man with a strong body, but despite this he is terrified of having to die, epr this reason Paul begins to believe that John is not evil in reality. Mr. Percy Wetmore tortures any kind of inmate and John instead proves to be calm and kind to everyone, comes to save a mouse too. Meanwhile, another colleague of Paul, Hal Moores discovers that his wife was diagnosed with cancer and in prison comes a new “Wild Bill” Wharton criminal. A bad man who will bring problems to the whole section of the Mile, because out of control.
Paul continues to know John, and he also accepts life tips that will be accurate, and the more time goes by Paul will understand that he is not a simple criminal and this will lead him to some angry decisions he will have to deal with.
