Marilyn There was once in Hollywood, the documentary in the centenary from birth

How did Marilyn Monroe become one of the greatest sex symbols of all time? What strength has Norma Jeane Baker transformed, a Californian girl shy and seemingly ordinary, into an icon capable of embodying at the same time innocence and sensuality, conquering entire generations?

A new documentary in three episodes, first seen on June 1 at 21:15 on Sky Documentaries streaming on NOW and available On Demand, aims to answer these questions, tracing the human, psychological and professional path of one of the most fascinating and complex figures in the history of cinema. The result of more than ten years of research, the project retraces the extraordinary transformation of Marilyn Monroe, going beyond the myth to reveal unpublished aspects of his private life and his deepest motivations.

Through exclusive testimonies of families never interviewed before and the contribution of experts in the psychological field, the documentary reconstructs childhood marked by abandonment and fragility, which decisively influenced Marilyn’s determination to achieve success at any cost. An unwavering will, nourished by the need for ransom compared to the refusal of parents, which pushed her to overcome personal limits and structural obstacles, to put at risk her own existence.

The story also highlights the complex relationships that diva intertwined her during her career, including the links with organised crime representatives and the fundamental role of key figures who supported her ascent. Among them, the acting teacher Natasha Lytess, Agent Johnny Hyde, founders of Actors Studio Lee and Paula Strasberg, and important producers such as Joseph Schenck, Spyros Skouras and Stanley Rubin.

Through an in-depth analysis and a new look, the documentary deconstructs Marilyn Monroe’s myth to return the portrait of a complex, determined and vulnerable woman, able to build an immortal image while paying a very high price.

Still today, Marilyn continues to exercise an irresistible charm and to represent a puzzle in part
