Produced by HT Film, Indigo Film and Vision Distribution, in collaboration with Sky, La Gioia is taken from the opera Se non dirty il mio floor by Giuliano Scarpinato and Gioia Salvatori, then became a winning screenplay in 2021 of the Solinas Prize. The story develops a story that interweaves desire, loneliness and needs redemption, moving between sentimental drama and psychological thrillers.
Protagonist is Gioia, interpreted by Valeria Golino, a high school teacher who lives a secluded life and marked by deep relational difficulties. The meeting with Alessio (Saul Nanni), a restless and elusive student, will create a relationship that is both unexpected and destabilizing, destined to question every balance. Next to them, Jasmine Trinca, as a woman with irresistible and unpredictable charm, and Francesco Colella, interpreter of a figure ready to direct and condition the choices of others according to their own interests, complete the portrait of a world crossed by emotional fragility, incomprehensions and unexpressed desires.
La Gioia, la trama
Gioia is a high school teacher who has never known love, except the oppressive one of the parents, with whom she still lives. Among the students of his school there is Alessio who uses his body as a tool to remedy a few hundred euros and help his mother, cashier in a supermarket.
Between Alessio and Gioia is born a forbidden, fragile and inexplicably necessary bond for both.
But the desire for a social and human ransom for Alessio is a silent poison that prevents him from getting finally conquered by the disarming sweetness of Joy. Thus, it destroys everything and erases the only person I have ever loved.
