On Monday, June 15, 2026, IRIS will broadcast an Australian film entitled “Strangerland”. The film is directed by Kim Farrant, with Nicole Kidman as the protagonist. The appointment with Strangerland is about 21:15 on IRIS. Strangerland, being an independent film, was distributed in a very limited number of rooms, in Italy it arrived directly in digital and dvd. The film in fact has cashed only 111 thousand dollars in the markets where it came out to the cinema.
Strangerland, la trama
The film tells the story of the Parker family composed by Catherine and Matthew, parents, and Lily and Rom, children. They recently moved from Coonaburra, to the small rural town of Nathgari, to leave behind some problems caused by her daughter Lily.
One night however, the two children mysteriously disappear without leaving any trace, just when a sandstorm is about to arrive in the small rural town. Catherine is in anxiety and from the outset of the research of the boys, the husband is a little rest, as she wants to avoid the judgement of public opinion.
The whole country, along with policeman David Rae, is looking for Tom and Lily, hoping they’re still alive, this until details of Lily’s past emerge. From that moment on, public opinion is waving against the family and the first suspects emerge. The more time passes and the more Catherine and Matthew walk away, while they seek new ways to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of their children.
