Mandela: La lunga strada verso la libertà, la trama

The film tells Nelson Mandela’s life, starting from his childhood when he lived in a rural village, to arrive at his election as the first black president elected by South Africa. Nelson studied as a lawyer in Johannesburg, and immediately became an activist for the fight against freedom at the time when violence between blacks and whites resulted in the opening of Apartheid measures.

Nelson, in the 1940s, was in the African National Congress, a party against violence fighting for African political rights. Forced to abandon a peaceful protest against the army, after the massacre of Shapeville, Mandela and his were arrested and sentenced to life for treason. Right in prison he will begin his personal journey to hell, but Mandela’s fighting spirit, supported by his wife Winnie, will lead him to survive and continue his campaigns. Even as a prisoner, Mandela was a symbol of ransom for millions of South Africans, a hope for those who were mistreated simply for the color of the skin.
