That daughter hurricane 2: plot, cast and what to know about the new season of the series with Tim Allen

After the success in the United States and the Italian debut on Disney+, The Hurricane of Daughter returns with the second season, available on the platform from July 8 (with weekly bets). The comedy distributed in the United States with the original Shifting Gears title, starring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings in the roles of a father and daughter forced to rebuild their relationship after years. Thanks to the good results obtained on ABC, thanks to the lack of order of a new comedy series, it was renewed for a third season, although the decision was not immediate.

Created by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, already author of The Simpsons, the series recounts the encounter between different generations, playing a lot on the usual traditionalist bureaucratic air of Tim Allen already seen in that hurricane of Dad (who refers to the title of the series), and that stralunata of Kat Dennings as known in 2 Broke Girls.

La trama della seconda stagione

The second season resumes the events of Matt Parker, widow and owner of a workshop dedicated to the restoration of cars, and his daughter Riley, who returned to live with him along with his two children after the end of his marriage. After finding a fragile family balance during the first season, the protagonists are facing new personal and relational challenges.

The new episodes deepen in particular the sentimental life of the protagonists and their relationship with the past, introducing new characters destined to change the balances built until that moment.

Il cast della serie

The second season fully confirms the main cast. Tim Allen is back in the role of Matt Parker and Kat Dennings as his daughter Riley, alongside Seann William Scott as Gabriel, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as the young Georgia.

Among the most important novelties of the second season is Jenna Elfman, confirmed after the first season but with a wider role; Jesse Williams, known for Grey’s Anatomy, will also come, in the role of Andy, a character destined to influence Riley’s personal path.

One of the most significant introductions is Luke Macfarlane, who plays Sam Parker, the son of Matt and Riley’s brother, a character repeatedly cited during the series but never appeared before. During the season, Lilly Singh and several prominent guest stars are available.

Particularly appreciated by the American public was the reunion of Home Improvement – The Hurricane of Dad, thanks to the participation of Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning next to Tim Allen. Special appearances include Brenda Song, Nancy Travis, Jay Leno, Gabriel Iglesias, Lori Greiner and baseball champion Mookie Betts.

The final of the first season had shown Matt and Riley finally able to regain a balance after years of misunderstanding and distance. Riley’s return to his father’s house allowed the two to gradually rebuild their relationship, but opened up new questions about the sentimental and familiar future of the protagonists.

The second season develops these dynamics, deepening the relationship between Riley, Gabriel and the newcomer Andy, the evolution of the relationship between Matt and Eve and the link found with Sam, further expanding the family universe of Parker.
