After the success of the world box office, Godzilla and Kong – The new empire (Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire) arrives clear on Italy 1 Saturday 11 July in the first evening. Directed by Adam Wingard, the 2024 film represents the fifth chapter of the MonsterVerse of Legendary Pictures and the follow-up of Godzilla vs. Kong, bringing on screen the two most famous Titans of cinema in an alliance destined to face a new threat from the depths of the Earth.
Between spectacular sequences and new revelations about the mythology of MonsterVerse, the film expands the narrative universe of the saga by exploring the origins of Kong, the mysterious world of the Cava Land and the bond that unites the two giant protagonists.
La trama
After the events of Godzilla vs. Kong, the two Titans are forced to set aside their rivalry when a new and powerful threat emerges from the Cava Land. The awakening of the ferocious Skar King, flanked by the gigantic Shimo, is likely to compromise the balance of the planet and the survival of humanity.
While scientists from the Monarch organization try to understand the origin of danger, Godzilla and Kong join forces in a battle that will lead them to face new enemies and discover other secrets related to their origins.

Godzilla and Kong – The new empire continues the story started with Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla II – King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong. This time the film moves much of the action into the Cava Land, expanding the mythology of MonsterVerse and deepening the Titans’ past, introducing new creatures and preparing the ground for the subsequent developments of the saga.

The series is not a disconnected spin-off, but a canonical dowel of the saga: it deepens the role of the Monarch, the organization that studies and monitors the Titans, and expands the mythology of the Cava Land, a central element also in Adam Wingard’s film.
While recounting an autonomous story, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters explores the consequences of Godzilla events (2014) and introduces characters, places and concepts that help better understand the world in which Godzilla and Kong move. To follow The new empire it is not necessary to have seen the series, but those who have already discovered it will find different references to the universe of the Monarch and the explorations of the Earth Cava, which assume an increasingly important role in the evolution of the MonsterVerse.
Il cast
Rebecca Hall returns to the role of Dr. Ilene Andrews, expert of the Monarch and reference figure for Kong. Brian Tyree Henry still plays podcaster Bernie Hayes, while Dan Stevens enters the MonsterVerse as Trapper, a veterinarian specialized in the study of the Titans.
They complete the cast Kaylee Hottle, which returns to play Jia, the young man adopted by Ilene and tied to Kong, Alex Ferns as Mikael, Fala Chen as Queen of Iwi and Rachel House in those of Hampton. The film is directed by Adam Wingard, director of Godzilla vs. Kong.
