The myth of Baba Yaga, one of the most enigmatic figures of Slavic folklore, becomes a modern mystery series miniseries in Yaga, Canadian production that will soon arrive on HBO Max in Europe Italy included (except UK and Ireland where it will be on Sky), Crave in Canada, AMC+ in the USA. Created by Kat Sandler and taken from his 2019 drama, the miniseries combines investigative, horror, supernatural and noir thrillers, creating a story that interweaves ancient legends and contemporary mysteries.
Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo, and <strong”>Hudson Williams, become an international star after the success of Heated Rivalry, protagonists of a story set in a small coastal town where the disappearance of a young man brings to light hidden secrets for generations. The question at the base is what really makes a person a witch? The series uses the myth of Baba Yaga not as a simple supernatural element, but as a metaphor for exploring identity, power, collective fears and secrets that cross a seemingly quiet community.
La trama
In the middle of the story there is Rapp, a private investigator who arrives in a quiet coastal town to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Henry Park, a young heir of a powerful family owner of a fishing empire. The investigation immediately contrasts with Carson, a local detective who is inclined to collaborate with a stranger, while around the case they begin to sharpen ambiguous characters, secret lives and ancient beliefs that still seem to have an influence on the present. To further complicate the painting is Katherine, a fascinating university teacher from the enigmatic past, whose bond with Henry could be deeper than it seems.
With the proceeding of the investigation, the boundary between reality and legend becomes thinner and the myth of Baba Yaga becomes the key to understanding the disturbing events that upset the town

The TV series should arrive by the end of 2026 in Canada and then expand into the rest of the world in 2027. The premiere will be at the Toronto International Film Festival (which takes place from 10 to 20 September).
