After the success of the first season, Dark Matter returns with a new chapter on Apple TV from August 28, obviously with 10 weekly release bets. Based on Blake Crouch’s eponymous novel, which in 2026 celebrates the tenth anniversary of its publication, the series continues to explore the infinite possibilities of the multiverse following the events of Jason Dessen and his family.
The new season was presented at the San Diego Comic-Con with the official trailer, but also with the announcement of the arrival of a podcast that will be released simultaneously with the new season. Conducted by Blake Crouch and the executive producer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry, he will accompany each episode with insights dedicated to the realization of the series, the science of the multiverse and the retroscene of the production.

In the final of the first season, Jason finally manages to find Daniela and Charlie, but discovers that he is not the only surviving Jason. After crossing the box, in fact, dozens of alternative versions of themselves reach the same reality, all convinced to have the right to live next to their family. Eventually, the various Jasons accept that Charlie and Daniela with the original Jason walks through a door finding a reality to start.
To avoid the situation degenerates further, the various Jason decide to confront each other and most choose to give up, letting Daniela decide with whom to continue his life. The woman recognizes Jason with whom she really shared her path and, along with her son Charlie, she chooses to leave that world once again crossing the Box, looking for a reality in which they can start again without being chased by their copies.
La trama della seconda stagione
The second season resumes after the events of the final of the first. The Dessens are finally trying to build a quiet life in what seems to be their world, but peace lasts little. A new shocking event forced them to flee again.
While Jason develops an increasingly strong obsession with the Box, the device that allows to cross the different realities, Daniela is consumed by a growing paranoia that puts at risk the fragile balance of the family. At the same time, Amanda and Ryan join forces in trying to find the way home, while Blair tries to stop them and Leighton continues to pursue his project to create a perfect world, whatever the price to pay.
