The story of the Buendía family and the mythical Macondo begins at the conclusion with the second and last part of Cent’anni di loneliness, the ambitious adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’ masterpiece by Netflix. After the episodes of December 2024, here comes the final part, the episodes resume the events after the wars of Colonel Aureliano Buendía and accompany the public in the last fifty years of the family saga, following the new generations until the fulfillment of the destiny that looms on Macondo since its foundation. The second part debuted on Netflix on August 5, 2026, while the grand finale will arrive on August 26 with a longer final bet.
The novel, published in 1967, is considered as a symbol of magical realism. The TV series was filmed entirely in Colombia with the direction still entrusted to Laura Mora, flanked by Carlos Moreno.
La trama
The second part resumes after the events of the first season, with Macondo now deeply changed. The wars that marked the life of Colonel Aureliano Buendía have left deep wounds and the utopian dream of the founders seems now destined to dissolve.
The story goes through the last decades of the Buendía family, following the new generations while progress brings irreversible changes, conflicts and decay. The past continues to repeat itself through impossible loves, errors handed down from father to son and a destiny from which no one seems to be able to escape, until the fulfillment of the curse that weighs on the family and the city of Macondo.
