The Promise is the Spanish soap on Rete 4 where it airs daily at 7.45. Produced by StudioCanal and Bambù Producciones, the soap was called a kind of Downton Abbey in Spanish sauce. The bets are also streaming on Mediaset Infinity. The stories develop within Palazzo El Rincón, a spectacular building of the late 19th Century, located in Aldea del Fresno, near Madrid, and on two sets of 3,000 m2, one of which is the faithful reconstruction of the interiors of Palazzo de La Promesa.
29-30 novembre a La Promessa
Jana tells Curro that he talked to Leocadia about their past and that he meant that Curro was Dolores’ son. Curro is indisposed, but Jana says he has in turn obtained important information about their past. Angela asks Martina to talk to Curro about the marriage that Cruz and Lorenzo are organising behind him but this late to do so. Santos meets Petra and Romulo and does everything to annoy Pia about the fact that his father is in Luján with his mother and late to return. The next day, Romulo speaks to Fr. Ricardo who admits he left with his mother only to please his son but reassures him that he no longer feels any feelings for her. But I am admonishing him that Santos may have had fantasies about a possible reunion of his parents, so he invites Ricardo to speak to him. Ricardo intercepts Santos and disilludes him by clearing the situation between him and Ana.
1-2 dicembre
The Marquis are shocked at the news that Manuel leaves for Italy, where he will go to work for Don Pedro’ Farre’, however when Manuel promises to help economically the Promise with his earnings, Alonso seems to be relieved. Santos in an interview with Romulo, accuses Pia of killing the Baron de Linaja, Romulo hunts him from his office, but when he talks about the thing with Pia, she confirms. Martina tells Curro that he risks not being able to pull back from the marriage that Lorenzo and Cruz are combining between him and a daughter of the de Castroviejo, and he finally understands the risk he runs and apologizes to Angela for not having believed her. Lope, Vera, Candela, Simona and Petra say they want to stay at the Promise, while Marcelo communicates to Romulo who decided to leave. Jana tells Curro what Leocadia told her, that she was a lover of the baron, and that Curro was kidnapped by the baron through the criminal organization to which she belonged, on the will of Cruz.
3-4 dicembre
Pia confesses to Romulo that she killed the Baron de Linaja. The butler wants me to reveal who helped her, but she refuses to. Jacobo lies in Martina about the intentions of the Marquis and convinces her to continue with marriage, although Martina confesses to Angela to have doubts. Leocadia faces Cruz on her marriage, implying that she married her deception and predicting a tragic end. Jana informs the service that he will leave for Italy with Manuel, while Marcelo communicates to Teresa and Vera that will leave the Promise for fear of being discovered by the men of the Duke of Sarabia or de Carril. Catalina surprises Father Samuel while stealing a vase and facing it. Jana and Teresa finally find out how to open the secret passage in Cruz’s room. Thanks to this, Jana manages to put together all the pieces of the puzzle and confides to Curro his hypothesis: According to you, Cruz killed Tomas and hid the crime just using the secret room.
5-6 dicembre
Jana and Curro manage to escape the secret room just when Cruz arrives in his room. Ignare of all this, Cruz tries to approach Jana, but she is not willing to stand at her game, causing the anger of the marquis. Alonso seeks a little comfort in his son in the face of the difficulties of his marriage and envys the happiness of Manuel and Jana. A happiness that Martina would also want to try, despite getting married. Marcelo announces his departure to all servitude and Ana returns to La Promessa to spend time with his son, but an accident forces Ricardo to intervene, approaching him again to his still wife. Catalina has prevented Samuel from stealing a vase from the living room, but does not intend to remain with his hands, then summons the priest and María Fernández to take the measures. Curro follows Ángela’s advice to devise the combined marriage plan. So he clashes with his aunt in a discussion that leads him to the limit.
7-8 La Promessa
Cruz decisively denies Curro’s claims and accuses Leocadia of having told him about the combined marriage, but the woman denies everything. Catalina, together with Father Samuel and Mary, decides to allocate the proceeds of the sale of the vase to the poor and to the servitude. To make Mary be absent, Catalina talks to Romulo, asking him for maximum discretion. Alonso asks Catalina to pay off his debts and she gives it to him without hesitation. Martina does the same, but refuses Jacobo’s proposal to move to his palace. Petra confides to Teresa his suspicions, that Marcelo decided to leave because their relationship is now compromised. Ana tries to reassure her son after a malore and hopes to be able to rebuild the bond with Ricardo. Meanwhile, Leocadia has no doubt: Jana is the daughter of Dolores. The truth, buried for years between lies and silences, finally begins to come afloat.
La Promessa la trama generale
The plot of La Promessa brings us back to Cordova in 1913 in a world now on the verge of war. Among the few oasis of peace, isolated from the conflict, remained the Palazzo La Promessa, in the valley of Los Pedroches, in Spain. Owned by the Marquis of Luján, one of the largest landowners in the country, Los Pedroches dressed as a party to celebrate the wedding of the heir, Tomás.
After the event, an airplane attracts the attention of guests: on board is Manuel, one of the four children of the Marquis of Luján. The aircraft loses altitude and crashes under the eyes of the guests, but Manuel is bravely saved by a young woman: Jana Exposito.
The Marquis, grateful, offers her a reward, but Jana prefers to be hired at Palazzo, to receive money: the desire of the young man, in fact, is to do justice for the mother, murdered 15 years earlier, and to understand what may have been of the newly born kidnapped brother. The only clue in Jana’s possession is tied to that building, and finally it’s time for revenge. There is only one element, which Jana had not predicted: Manuel..
Il Cast
Many actors who are part of the cast of La Promessa and many have already attended the world of soaps. The protagonist Jana is Ana Garces while Manuel is portrayed by Arturo Sancio. Jordi Coll (already seen in The Secret) is Tomas while Pia is interpreted by Maria Castro who is also in Six Sisters. Martina is instead Ampara Pinero who is in Another Tomorrow.
