A walk in space and a tornado, the universe of 911 starts so with the ninth season of the main series and the new spinoff set in Nashville with protagonists two beloved faces of TV like Chris O’Donnell who arrives from NCIS Los Angeles and Jessica Capshaw of Grey’s Anatomy. The two TV series come from today 3 December on Disney+ streaming, so far they have been broadcast on ABC 6 episodes and both will depart on 8 January.
Given the success that 911 continues to have on ABC it was inevitable that Disney thought of expanding the franchise after the end of Lone Star again focusing on a different setting than the Los Angeles mother series. You move to Nashville and the setting determines the narrative structure both in the (hotest) colors and in the way of speaking (obviously only in the original language you will notice) but also in the relationships and stories. Beyond the importance of country music, unavoidable given the city in which it is set, 911 Nashville lives and breathes those deep United States away from the liberal cultures of the two coasts, where there is a family, patriarchal and friendly law that goes beyond the natural and state.
The series follows the format of Lone Star in the family system that is the basis of the series, contrary to 911 that built a family inside the barracks. Not only but the personal events of the protagonists have a very strong centrality right away without forgetting the classic procedural structure. Of 911, coming to the ninth season, it is also unnecessary to add more, its formula is the traditional one: you start with a super tragedy that brings the protagonists into space and then you return to the usual routine between personal emotions and adrenaline rescues.

The ninth season starts with an adventure in space that occupies 4 episodes, too much for the standards of 911 but that in the end are forgiven because we are accustomed to these extremes. As had been anticipated, Athena’s children have a greater space than the last seasons. The barracks 118 and the various characters inevitably have to deal with Bobby Nash’s death.
