Dr. Kay Scarpetta, born in Patricia Cronwell’s novels, became a TV series entitled Scarpetta and arriving in March 2026 on Prime Video. The TV series has been announced for a long time and has immediately attracted the attention and curiosity of the public both because the novels of Cronwell are very loved, but also for the presence of Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.
In fact, the series (not miniseries) has an excellent cast with Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Ariana DeBose, Rosy McEwen, Jake Cannavale and Hunter Parrish that flank Kidman and Curtis. The crime thriller TV series developed and written by Liz Sarnoff finally brings to the screen the beloved character of the forensic pathologist born in 1990 in the novels of Cronwell that sold over 120 million copies worldwide. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television in collaboration with Blossom Films, Comet Pictures and P&S Projects. Scarpetta will debut on 11 March on Prime Video (at the moment it was not established if in binge watching or weekly).

Scarpetta takes place on two temporal planes. This double narration explores Kay Scarpetta’s personal and professional path (Nicole Kidman), from his beginnings at the end of the 1990s as a medical chief at the present, when he returns to his hometown to sum up his previous assignment and investigate a gruesome murder. While trying to get justice, Scarpetta will have to draw on complicated relationships, including the conflict relationship with her sister Dorothy Farinelli (Jamie Lee Curtis), dealing with old-time professional and personal rancours and secrets that threaten to destroy everything she has built.

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is the legal physician “Kay Scarpetta,” while the Oscar Award Jamie Lee Curtis plays her sister “Dorothy Farinelli”. In the role of Detective Pete Marino we find Bobby Cannavale, while Simon Baker (The Mentalist) is the FBI profiler Benton Wesley and Oscar actress Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) plays Lucy Watson, Kay’s nephew, technology expert.
The double timeline of the series is enriched by the presence in the cast of Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean), Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist), Jake Cannavale (The Offer) and Hunter Parrish (Weeds), who play respectively the younger versions of the characters of Kidman, Curtis, Cannavale and Baker.
