Between clear and pay Sky tries to relaunch the format of Love Bugs, the comical pills on the couple life made unforgettable thanks to Fabio De Luigi and Michelle Hunziker. With 39 different versions, it is the scripted format with more adaptations in TV history. The new version of the sitcom comes from 19.30 on Monday 24 November in clear on TV8 but also on Sky on demand and at 20.30 on Sky Series as well as streaming on NOW. The new pair of protagonists is formed by Brenda Lodigiani and Michele Rosiello while writing the series was called Ivan Cotroneo, creative supervisor of the project. The production is Blue Yasmine.
After conquering millions of viewers in the early years 2000, Love Bugs returns to a very different social context, in which smartphones, social and series to be seen together or in secret, but the “bugs” of love always remain the same: jealousies, misunderstandings, fights with the nuns. The sit-com takes pictures of all this with lightness, irony and comedy. For love, even when it is in transformation, remains the most comic, tender and universal matter that there is. And Brenda and Michele are the perfect couple to tell the evolutions.
Love Bugs, la trama
In the middle of the plot a completely new couple. Brenda is a passionate and unpredictable girlfriend who everyone wants to meet: beautiful, energetic, brilliant, but also polemic, obsessive and excessive. Michele is the ideal companion: romantic, sympathetic, a little ‘mommon’ and deeply partenopeo, who loves cuisine, traditions, family and Naples, his team of heart. Together the two form a fun, dynamic and extraordinarily hungry couple, which revives the routine with fun, irony, and good sex.
Around Brenda and Michele moves a heterogeneous microcosm of characters: Michele del calcetto’s friends, Brenda’s friends omnipresent on whatsapp, her intrusive mother-in-law, Brenda’s mom with a faint for the son-in-law, a slightly sexy manager, the Cuban salsa master, noisy neighbors and colleagues.
La formula
The narrative structure consists of short sketches, a tight rhythm and an immediate comedy. The couple faces the sentimental challenges typical of a new generation that adapts their ways of being together with a world now changed by new technologies, where the mobile phone has become an extension of the hand and consequently a “personality” very present in their couple life.
