Pilar Fogliati, the voice of the Baracchino, the first Italian series at the Annie Awards

Pilar Fogliati, at the century María del Pilár Fogliati, is one of the new faces of the Italian comedy. A protagonist of the champion of madly recessed, he is also a comic and conductor, capable of enchanting with his presence and his polyhedry the Italian public. Recently, she was the protagonist of the drama Short love story, debuting at the director of the screenwriter Ludovica Rampoldi, and now is on the set of The profile of the other, the new film by Francesco Bruni that includes in the cast Geneva Francesconi.

Brilliant and endowed with a strong observation ability, Pilar Fogliati does not miss an opportunity to quote between his idols two icons of the Italian cinema and theatre scene: Monica Vitti and Paola Cortellesi. Over the years he has been able to be noticed not only for his stage presence, but also for his extraordinary vocal versatility. It is precisely this ability to play with accents and modulate the voice that led her to explore the world of dubbing. Pilar lent his voice to three characters in animated films: in IF – Imaginary friends is Blossom, in Inside Out 2 is Anxiety, and in Il baracchino gives voice to Claudia. Not only on the big and small screen, but also on the TV poles, Fogliati stands out for its engaging performances, where his vocal talent explodes in original sketches that make it one of the most complete artists of his generation.

After a theatrical debut, between 2014 and 2015 Pilar Fogliati begins to get acquainted on television, participating in the television series Che Dio aid us and the miniseries The woods, where she plays one of the protagonist’s friends. At the same time, she plays in Chiara’s music video, Extraordinary.

After the film debut with Forever Young, in 2017 Fogliati took part in the television series A step from the sky. It is with the fiction Rai that Pilar Fogliati manages to be noticed, interpreting the young etologue Emma Giorgi, on which he gravas a cerebral aneurysm but that makes the guard Francesco Neri fall in love with and with which he undertakes a disproportionate relationship. However, the real breakthrough comes with a viral video where the actress interprets the various dialects of Roman girls. The video is noted by the screenwriter and radio conductor Giovanni Veronesi, who first invites her on the radio to act and in the free time deepen the characters. Their artistic partnership a year later will give rise to the authorial debut of Fogliati. It is Romantiche, a comedy with episodes written with Veronesi, directed and interpreted by herself, where she plays as four different women. Winner of the Silver Ribbon as the best actress and two Golden Globs for the best comedy and the best actress, the film was well received by critics, especially for the abilities of his actress and author to play with accents and tones.

Speaking of her at the programme of Rai1 Sottovoce, Veronesi reflected on their collaboration described her as one of the best emerging Italian talents: “I expect a great future. She is one of the best young actresses in Italy, but above all she is a very comic actress. And in Italy, as we know, are counted on the tips of the fingers comic actresses. ”

From that moment Pilar Fogliati imposes itself as one of the most appreciated and rewarded actresses of the Italian panorama, thanks to both its espousness and naturalness — evident both on social as in the characters it interprets — and through roles gradually more and more important. In 2021 he entered the cast of Hearts, fiction set in the 1960s, where he dressed as the cardiologist Delia Brunello: the series, up until now to two seasons, gets good results of public.

In parallel to television success, he continues to have success at the cinema. In 2024 he is among the faces of the comedy Romeo is Giulietta, in which he returns to collaborate with Veronesi (here as director) playing a theatrical actress who pretends to be a man to get the role of Romeo; for the role, Fogliati lends itself to the prostetic trick, for what she in interviews defined “the dream role”, that is to say in the role of the opposite sex. The following year she is the protagonist of Follemente, a comedy champion who sees her acting next to Edoardo Leo, as a girl struggling with a romantic date while her head figures manage the situation. Also in 2025 he participated in the videoclip Milano Baby by Fabri Fibra and Joan Thiele.

Pilar Fogliati is therefore revealing one of the freshest and most multifaceted faces of his generation, able to cross the genres without difficulty and cross the mediums, as demonstrated by his participation in the Baracchino di Salvo Di Paola and Nicolò Cuccì. As she herself stated in an interview: “What intrigues me most is not to say what the woman is according to me, but to show that the woman is like this today. Period. I can no longer see movies and TV series that seem set I don’t say in another era, but in another world. With my characters I would like to be able to double the reality: at the bottom of imitation is also this, that is to say that reality is so because I felt it, I saw it. ”
