“I thought there was a need for dialogue between males and females, all starting from a time when my wife called me unconscious malelist” so Maximilian Bruno told the genesis of the film. The idea that we have all introduced the malelist dynamics that are difficult to discard but that the new generations (or at least one of them) are trying to do more openly than it may seem to the other generations. The characters of Edoardo Leo and Claudia Pandolfi change and evolve in a natural narrative path, leave their positions more rigid and welcome the other. Of course, while being a film that pushes to dialogue and confrontation, the premise is that there is a perspective to be corrected that is that of unconscious malelist.
Giorgio Colangeli and Gianmarco Tognazzi interpret the father and brother of Valerio, two conscious malelists, immersed in a strongly patriarchal culture, who unravel us in a society that reflects them, unable to question and open to the perspective of the other. They are contour characters that serve to strengthen the clash between the different sensibilities and above all to show in a definitive way the inevitable evolution of Valerio.
2 Hearts and 2 Capannes is a social romantic comedy to try to analyze society, to read it but to take a clear and decisive position. There are no paths in the middle, it is not a film that furiously tries to please everyone, but from the beginning it puts in front of two characters and tells you which to love and which to hate, who is right and who is bad. It does not demonize the male or that male culture, reaching the extremes of the erased cultures of the little American Democrats. It reminds us how comparison, listening and moderation are the elements on which civil coexistence is based. So you do not erase the past, you do not change but on that past you build the future. Otherwise you can always get someone who gets to erase some other aspect of the past.

Net of some initial naivety, starting from the abused starting point seen in every romantic comedy and far too forced, 2 Hearts and 2 Capanne is a comedy that has something to say and is not ashamed to do so. It’s funny when it’s needed, but it’s never misunderstood (it’s not the type of film), it touches so many strings and convinces more clearly when in the second part it goes beyond the search for the sketch to become more organic and fluid.
