Giulio Regeni – All the evil of the world, the documentary arrives at the cinema

Giulio Regeni – All the evil of the world is the documentary that reconstructs in detail and faithfully, the story of Giulio Regeni Italian researcher, whose body is found without life near Cairo on 3 February 2016. Thanks to the contribution of the Regeni family and the approached Ballerini, the stages of the seizure and the whole situation are told in detail. The documentary film on Giulio Regeni will be at the cinema on 2-3-4 February 10 years after his death, soon he will be on Sky who collaborated on the film.

The narrative develops through the trial and depositions of witnesses to judgment, giving voice to the protagonists of the story and bringing out responsibility, omissions and denied truths. For the first time are the parents of Giulio, Claudio Regeni and Paola Deffendi, together with the lawyer Alessandra Ballerini, to tell in person this story: a father and a mother who, in their search for truth, challenged the Egyptian government. Written with Emanuele Cava and Matteo Billi, the film is produced by Agnese Ricchi and Mario Mazzarotto for Ganesh Productions and by Domenico Procacci and Laura Paolucci for Fandango.

Giulio Regeni – All the evil of the world has recently won the Silver ribbon of legality. Also from 18 January to 4 February, in the exhibition hall of the Municipality of Fiumicello, will be set the exhibition “10 years in yellow: a wave of shock” that runs 10 years with Giulio, through images, drawings, objects and videos.

Chi era Giulio Regeni?

Born in Trieste, on January 15, 1988, resident in Fiumicello Villa Vicentina, in the province of Udine, where it grows in a family of “great travelers”. Attends the College of the World
United States, where he obtained baccalaureate, then graduated in Arabic and Politics in Leeds,
Master in “Development studies” in Cambridge and from 2014 PhD in Cambridge.
In 2015, at the age of 27, he moved to Cairo for his PhD on Trade Unions
Egyptians, within a larger historical economic study.

What should have been an academic research project turns into a tragedy that reveals the mechanisms of control and repression of the Egyptian regime.

On 3 February Giulio Regeni was found without life at the edge of a state road, far from the city centre. His body bears clear signs of horrible torture. Autopsy talks about days and days of sevices, contusions and abrasions throughout the body, extensive bruises compatible with injuries from kicks, fists and sticks. More than two dozen bone fractures, including seven broken ribs, all fingers and feet, as well as both legs, arms and shoulders, as well as five broken teeth; burns and cutting wounds all over the body. When the mother goes to recognize him, she will declare: “I have seen all the evil of the world on his face.”.
