From March 6th to 15th Spello and the Umbrian villages return to breathe cinema with the new and fifteenth edition of the Film Festival of Spello and the Umbrian villages – The professions of cinema. And also this year we will also be in the jury TV series with Riccardo Cristilli, Giorgia Di Stefano and Federico Vascotto but also with a panel on Sunday morning March 15 dedicated to bullying in TV series and the presentation of the new version of New York Trip the book of Giorgia Di Stefano that makes discover the city through the series.
To wait for the audience of fans and curious will like always be the projections all free, at the Teatro “Subasio” in Spello, of the works in competition (Italian and international films, documentaries, TV series, backstage of films and TV series, and short films), but also many moments of deepening, on the world of behind the scenes and not only, meetings with professionals, directors and actors and as always the exhibitions dedicated to the world of the seventh art in all its declinations. The ribbon cutting of the 15th edition is scheduled for Friday, March 6th, at 17, in the Hall of the Edict of the Palazzo Comunale di Spello, where will be held the opening conference of the Festival and the inauguration of the exhibitions “Through the Black” and “Art in Cinema”.
Festival del cinema di Spello – Premi speciali
Three special awards that will be delivered during the awards ceremony of the 15th edition of the Festival. The “Premio all’ Excellence” which, this year, will be assigned to Francesco Bruni, screenwriter of works such as “Ovosodo”, “Il commissione Montalbano” and “La prima cosa bella”, just to name a few; and director of “Scialla!”, “Noi 4”, “Tutto ciò che vo”, “Cosa sarà” and “Tutto asks for salvation”.
For the award “Carlo Savina” for excellence in music, instead, will be awarded the composer and musician Giuliano Taviani, author of the soundtracks of over 90 works, between film and TV series. Among his best known works are “Boris”, “Cesare must die”, “Anime nere” and “Diamanti”. During his career he received numerous awards including two David di Donatello for “Anime nere” in 2015 and a 2025 Silver Tape for “Diamanti”. Recognition that Taviani will share with pianist, composer and arranger Carmelo Travia.
Finally, for the “Premio Federico Savina” the professional to win the recognition will be the sound technician Stefano Campus. Winner in 2015 of David di Donatello as the best sound of direct take and the Ciak D’Oro for the film “Anime nere”, is a lecturer in various academic institutions including the European Film College in Ebeltoft in Denmark, the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia per le sede di Roma, L’Aquila e Palermo and the school of cinema Sentieri Selvaggi. An additional special prize will be awarded by BGM – Boys and Girls Magazine at Deffo Motori, content creator of Formula 1.

Many events that will mark the 2026 edition of the Festival (the whole program is the site). On Saturday, March 7th with the talk “AI and dubbing”, at 17, at the Oratory of the Crucifix of Foligno with the presence of the association Anad represented by Laura Romano, Alessio Cigliano, Davide Lepore and the young Giada Fortini, moderated by Marco Garavaglia of Inlusion Creative Hub.
At 21, instead, at the Teatro “Subasio” in Spello, great guest will be the actress Veronica Pivetti, protagonist – among other things – of the lucky TV series of Rai 1 “Balene – Amiche forever”, with a talk moderated by journalist Simone Pinchiorri. On Tuesday, March 10, at 21.30 at the Teatro “Subasio” in Spello the national preview of the first episode of the series “Pompei”, in the presence of the director Vincenzo Coccoli and the actors Federica Santuccio, Ethan Riot and Rosario Terranova.
Unmissable, then, the appointment of Wednesday 11 March, which will see intervention by the singer-songwriter Daniele Silvestri for the screening, at 21.30 of the documentary “Fabi Silvestri Gazzè. One step at a time.” To intervene also the director Francesco Cordio who, with Silvestri, will be protagonist of a talk moderated by Francesca Romana Lovelock. Another talk is also scheduled for Thursday, March 12, at 21, always at the Teatro “Subasio” in Spello. Exceptional guests the Banda Caligari with the interventions of Francesca Serafini and Giordano Meacci, co-authors along with Claudio Caligari of the film “Don’t be bad”. Moderated by journalist Andrea Luccioli, will also present the book “Pantagruel. Don’t be bad,” dedicated to Caligari. Follow the film screening ten years after the release.
Other events not to be missed will finally be those scheduled for Sunday, March 15. It starts at 11 am with the talk “Stop to Silence”, housed in the hall of the Edict of the Palazzo Comunale di Spello, which will see among the guests actresses Sofia D’Elia, Claudia Marsicano and Sara Ciocca, along with other professionals of the world of cinema and some students. The meeting will be an opportunity to encourage young people, first of all, but also adults to overcome the culture of silence to promote communication as a tool to address difficulties and seek support. At the same time we will talk about TV series that address the theme of bullying together with journalists Federico Vascotto, Riccardo Cristilli and Giorgia Di Stefano, who will also present his latest book entitled “The New York of the TV series – The pop guide of the city”.
The clou of the 15th edition, however, will be held with the two awards ceremony. The first is on the agenda for Friday 13 March, at 21, at the Teatro “Subasio” in Spello; the second, instead, will be held Saturday 14 March, at 17, at the Auditorium San Domenico di Foligno with the presence not only of the professionals behind the scenes, winners of the 2026 edition, but also of many guests, including the godmother Federica De Benedittis and the godfather Alessandro Sperduti.
