Tonight on TV Thursday 12 February 2026 on TV8 will air the film “Paradiso Amaro“. The film is directed by Alexander Payne and is taken from Kaui Hart Hemmings’ novel “Heredi of a Wrong World”. The film, released in the theatres of the world in 2011, earned $117.2 million worldwide, and also won an Oscar as the best non-original script. In Italy the film has cashed about 3.3 million euros.
Paradiso Amaro, la trama
The film is set in Hawaii and tells the story of lawyer Matt King, portrayed by George Clooney, a descendant of a very rich family. When a boat accident will condemn his wife and live in an irreversible coma state, Matt will be alone with his daughters: Little Scottie and teen Alex.
Matt then begins to deal with his role as a parent and what he entails, especially in the relationship with the teenage daughter, who took the path of self-destruction, and the whims of the little daughter. The lawyer must also manage the lands of the island of Kauai of which he is now administrator. He will have to decide whether to preserve that huge untouched land, or sell it to please his cousins, who are compromisers, risking someone to use it to build something.
His life will be further complicated when he finds out that his wife had an extra marital relationship. This discovery will destabilize and decide to meet the lover by embarking on a journey with his daughters to rebuild his life from scratch and that of his family. Back from the trip, his problems remained there waiting for him, so Matt will have to decide definitively if to detach the plug of the machines that keep his wife alive, and if to sell those lands.
