Fatima, the film about the power of faith tonight on TV

Fatima is a dramatic film about the power of direct faith Marco Pontecorvo (who has in his curriculum films such as The Golden of Scampia, Black in the middle, Alfredino – An Italian story) and arrives on Sunday 31 March at Easter on Rai 1 and RaiPlay. It is inspired by the famous apparitions of Our Lady in 1917. The subject and the screenplay are by Marco Pontecorvo and Valerio D’Annunzio.

It was produced in 2020 by Origin Entertainment, Elysia Productions and Rose Pictures. A little curiosity: Fatima presents an original song entitled Gratia Plena (“Piena di grace”), which was interpreted by Andrea Bocelli and composed by Italian composer Paolo Buonvino.

We are in 1917 in Fatima, Portugal, unavoidable that the plot of the film starts from here. Of the children, for the precision a 10-year-old catwalk, Lúcia dos Santos, and its two young cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, report to have received apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The voice of their vision spread quickly, and their revelations seem to inspire and make believers all over the world rejoice.

Not everyone, though, is happy with it. The officials of the Catholic Church and the secular government, in fact, try to force the children to retract their history. All this is not enough to stem the wave of faith that breaks on Fatima: tens of thousands of religious pilgrims flocked to the place to witness what has become known as the Miracle of the Sun, while the lives of children change forever.

Il cast

Joaquim de Almeida plays Father Ferreira, Goran Višnjić is Arturo. Children are played by Stephanie Gil (Lúcia dos Santos as a young man), Alejandra Howard (Jacinta Marto) and Jorge Lamelas (Francisco Marto). Lúcia Moniz plays Maria Rosa and Marco d’Almeida António. The very important role of the Virgin Mary is all Joana Ribeiro. In the cast also Sônia Braga (Lúcia dos Santos) and Harvey Keitel (professor Nichols).
