Cassandra Monique Batie, better known as Andra Day, is one of those Hollywood artists who achieve success after a long period of study, sacrifices, performances on small stages and faith. Born in Spokane in 1984 and then raised in San Diego, California, Andra Day tells HouseGuest how his family brought her closer to the world of music: “I grew up in a musical family, my father loved R&B and jazz and my mother rock and contemporary music. ”

His debut came in 2015 with the album Cheers to the Fall, which includes his most popular song Rise Up, which will also be sung at the White House during President Barack Obama’s second term for an educational initiative by Michelle Obama. From here onwards, his career has steadily gone up. The first collaborations with the cinema come: in 2017 he wrote Glory Days for Cars 3, and in the same year he made Stand Up for Something for the film Marcia per la libertà – Marshall, starring Chadwick Boseman.
The approach to the big screen almost comes as an indirect consequence of its path and in 2019 it is proposed the role of Billie Holiday in the United States against Billie Holiday, directed by Lee Daniels.
