A fertility clinic in Barcelona is at the centre of In Utero, a new Italian TV series by HBO Max starting on May 8 with 8 episodes released every Friday. The TV series is created by Margaret Mazzantini (co-author with Enrico Audenino and Teresa Gelli also of the serial subject) and directed by Maria Sole Tognazzi who also curates the artistic direction of the project. The director of the last four episodes is entrusted to Nicola Sorcinelli. Authors of the screenplays are Enrico Audenino – who also plays as head writer – Teresa Gelli and Vanessa Picciarelli. In Utero is a Cattleya production, part of ITV Studios, in association with Paramount Television International Studios.
Sergio Castellitto, Alessio Fiorenza, Maria Pia Calzone and Thony are the protagonists of a TV series set in a fertility clinic in Barcelona.
In Utero, la trama
In the center there are the stories of Ruggero (Sergio Castellitto), a gynecologist founder of the assisted fecundation clinic “Creatividad”, and Angelo (Alessio Fiorenza), a young trans man, talented biologist. Next to them Teresa (Maria Pia Calzone), brilliant and founder administrator along with the husband of the clinic, and Dora (Thony), the new patient assistant. Every day they compare with the complex human events that patients carry with them along with their clinical history. People of different sexual and romantic orientation, in couple or single, which through their desire to parenthood bring unprecedented views and deep conflicts ever explored.
Set in Barcelona, In Utero accompanies the viewer within a unreported and deeply human universe, where every day stories of hope, expectation, courage and vulnerability are interwoven. People who come to the clinic with the same desire, to have a child, but behind each path they hide difficult choices, biological limits, deep fears and questions without answers.
