After the cult The relentless (1987) with Arnold Schwarzenegger, director Edgar Wright (The Dawn of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), signs a new version of Stephen King’s thriller L’uomo in Escape.
The Running Man is available in 4K Ultra HD with Paramount and Plaion Pictures to be able to run at home with the protagonist, Glen Powell.
The Running Man: il film
The Running Man is the most popular TV show in the world: an extreme reality show in which competitors, called Runners, must respect only one rule to stay alive: fleeing for 30 days, live TV, bracked by professional killers, called Hunters, while the audience, glued to the screens, comes to every performance.
Ben Richards (Powell) is not a hero: he is an ordinary man, forced to an impossible choice: to enter the game to save his sick daughter and return to his wife. To convince him is Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), the charismatic and ruthless producer of the show, master in transforming suffering into show, fear in share, death in entertainment. But Ben doesn’t follow the script.
Run, fight, resist. And against every prediction becomes an idol: the public acclaims it, the listens fly. The more success grows, the more the game becomes mortal. Now Ben must not face only his pursuers… but an entire nation that wants to see him fall.
A film less dystopian and innovative than it would want to be, because in many respects already seen and explored also as themes. The cast and the care of the staging work with some findings (such as notes citing the old protagonist now president of the United States).
L’edizione home video
The 4K film is presented in an elegant cardboard slipcase where the red color predominates. Too bad for the only disc present, without even the blue-ray edition in high definition. On the other hand, the special content goes beyond the comment of director Edgar Wright, actor Glen Powell and writer Michael Bacall.
Extras include many making of and behind the scenes: Hunting starts, Hunters and hunts, Welcome to the creation of the world, Survive to the game / Turn The Running Man, The Spots The Show, The Competitors – Self-tape, The Apostle, Mix of Stunts, Prove Hair, Makeup and Costumes, Trailer and Digital Spots.
