Friday, May 23, 2026 on Rai 2 will air the film Il Traditore directed by Marco Bellocchio, also author of the screenplay, presented in Cannes in 2019. The film tells the story of Tommaso Buscetta, a mafioso who decided to become a collaborator of justice starting to speak with Giovanni Falcone. The film won 7 silver ribbons including Best Film, Direction, Leading Actor; 2 Golden globes; 6 David of Donatello and earned €4.6 million.

The boss Tommaso Buscetta escapes to Brazil to hide and, from afar, assists impotent to the murder of his two sons and his brother in Palermo.
After the arrest by the Brazilian authorities, the criminal is extradited to Italy. Back at home, Buscetta takes an epochal decision, which will allow to shed light on the internal structure of what ours, its rules and its functioning: to meet the magistrate Giovanni Falcone and collaborate with justice.
