Spider-Noir seemed a strange experiment since his announcement. Adaptation of a comic book saga featuring a version of Spider-Man, the 8-point TV series is released in the double format in Autentico bianco and True-Hue Full Color, thus leaving the public the opportunity to choose in a way to use it. Not only but the TV series, produced by Sony in the USA was released first on MGM+ and then passed on Prime Video internationally since May 27.
The only really brave choice, however, was not made by the platforms, binge-watching is not exactly ideal for a refined, elegant TV series, with slowed rhythms as it is typical of the noir genre. A weekly release would allow the public to enjoy it at its best, never forget that with the current serial invasion, the slowed pace of weekly release allows you to discover many more series and would be definitely desirable. But it is known that platforms like Netflix and Prime Video seem to aim more to “capture” the public without letting it be free to find out more.
Spider-Noir tra fumetto e serialità
Inspired by the eponymous comic book, the TV series takes us to the New York of the 1930s where a private investigator fell into disgrace is actually Spider-Man but in an unusual version compared to what we were used to. For five years, following a personal tragedy, he hung his costume on the nail but soon he will have to deal with his past. Nicolas Cage, perfect with his air engulfed by the world and by life, disillusioned with life and circumstances. The typical investigator from noir who never smiles and lets himself be consumed by pain.
The support cast Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, Brendan Gleeson who, without spoilers, are friends, enemies, customers, rivals, lovers of the protagonist.

Il gioco dei colori
Spider-Noir has a very special taste and atmosphere, unusual compared to the serial panorama in which we are immersed. The black and white version is ideal to send back to the most noir atmospheres, in fact, with an old movie taste. The color one immediately refers to the comic book, with gloss and images reminiscent of a paper albo. But it is all the TV series, in both versions, to be built as a succession of comic boards, with very clean scenes, frames of set which follow details. Like you want to scroll through the pages.
Spider-Noir is not a procedural detective drama with episode cases. The noir atmospheres instead envelop a more dramatic story though with lighter elements especially for certain lines of dialogue of the protagonist (but they did not do the madness of running it among the comedies to some award), which will live more and more towards the supernatural, introducing marrying a world of gangsters and corruption in which the element of freaks, monster, powers gives a unique color.
