Wim Wenders: the film festival with 5 films from (re)see

CG Entertainment, in collaboration with Lumière & Co. and Cinemaundici, is pleased to announce the arrival in Italian theatres, starting from June 22, of the exhibition On viaggio con Wim Wenders – Five masterpieces to be rediscovered.

A cinematographic journey that celebrates one of the greatest authors of contemporary cinema through five fundamental works. The exhibition offers a true itinerary for more than thirty years of career, from the 70s to the early 2000s, bringing on the big screen 5 cult films still surprisingly powerful and vital:

Alice nelle città – Versione Restaurata (Alice in den Städten, 1974),
L’amico americano – Versione Restaurata (Der amerikanische Freund, 1977),
Lisbon Story – Versione Restaurata (1994),
The Million Dollar Hotel – Versione Restaurata (2000),
Non bussare alla mia porta (Don’t come knocking, 2005).

Five films that make up an essential map of Wenders cinema: works that tell, through streets, cities, meetings and solitudes, the long journey of an author who has been able to transform the cinema into a space of freedom, research and wonder. Five films still capable of exciting and speaking to the present with rare intensity.

The route opens with Alice in the cities – Restored Version (Alice in den Städten, 1974), a seminal work and the first chapter of the famous “trilogy of the road”, in which the journey becomes poetic and inner experience. With The American Friend – Restored Version (Der amerikanische Freund, 1977), drawn from Patricia Highsmith, Wenders signs a cult noir that consecrates him internationally.

Lisbon Story – Restored Version (1994) is a fascinating reflection on cinema and image, still today an impressive topic, thanks to its idea of a Europe without borders. The Million Dollar Hotel – Restored Version (2000), Silver Bear in Berlin, tells a fragile and marginal humanity in night Los Angeles.

Closes the cycle Do not knock on my door (Don’t as knocking, 2005), the film that marked a new collaboration between Wenders and Sam Shepard, after the Golden Palm for Paris, Texas: a meditation on time, escape and the possibility of reconciliation, set in the symbolic spaces of the West.

On a journey with Wim Wenders – Five masterpieces to be rediscovered is a unique opportunity for the Italian public to rediscover on the big screen five unreliable films, still today extraordinary.
